North Carolina State Medical Assistance Team II: Educational Requirements for Deployment

In order for any SMAT II Team member to be deployed to any disaster, they must have completed ALL of the following courses prior to the deployment. Other criteria may be necessary for continued deployment availability.

ICS Requirements (Previously Discussed):

  • ICS 100 - Introduction to the Incident Command System
  • ICS 200 - ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
  • ICS 700 - An introduction to the National Incident Management System

The following material and the post-quiz that follows each module is required to successfully complete the SMAT II training course that you are enrolled in. This web-based training was created for your convenience to minimize your travel and classroom time.

This material must be completed before you will receive credit for completing the SMAT II Training.

You need to complete the post-quizzes:

For each of the four modules presented here. Upon completion of viewing the material, print the corresponding post-quiz. This is not an online graded quiz. You need to print the quiz and answer the questions by hand. Write your name on it, and notify Sarah Seiler, for intstructions on how to get your quizzes to the MTAC SMAT 700 Office.

SMAT II Web-based Training Instructions:

1. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files. If your computer does not have this software, you can download it free by clicking HERE.
2. Scroll down the page to a module topic heading and double mouse click on it. (The letters are in BLUE).This will open Adobe and allow you to view the presentation material.
3. Upon completion of viewing the material, double mouse click the word "Quiz" (also in BLUE) and Adobe will open the quiz associated with that module. You will need to have a printer attached to your computer to print the quiz which you will complete by hand.
4. You MUST successfully complete ALL 5 modules of the SMAT II Web Based Training along with the 3 ICS Modules before you are able receive credit for SMAT II Training or to be deployed to any actual disaster.
